Can Anxiety Cause Insomnia?
Insomnia is one of the most common sleep disorders where a person repeatedly has difficulties in falling asleep every night and difficulty in staying asleep. It is one of the many sleep disorders that can have a great negative effect on the overall quality of health of a person. It can cause a disruption to the normal sleep-wake cycle of a person, thus leaving a person tired, sleepy, and groggy to prevent him or her from functioning properly the next day. There are a lot of different possible causes why a person develops the problem, it may be due to stress, depression, current medications, underlying medical conditions, substance and drugs misuse, and even anxiety.

Research and studies show that people who are suffering from the problem have higher chances of suffering from anxiety throughout the day. When this cycle continues, it may lead to more sleepless nights, which is caused by severe anxiety. To be able to get rid of the cycle of anxiety, the person must know the underlying cause either his insomnia or anxiety, or both.

Aside from anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder, there are still a lot of different possible factors that can cause sleeping problems. Here are some of the common causative factors:

- Medications, such as stimulants, anti-depressants, salbutamol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and many more

To successfully treat or improve its symptoms, it is best to know the underlying cause. There is no use of managing symptoms of various sleep disorders if the underlying cause is not addressed. If it is caused by anxiety, determine possible causes of your anxiety, to successfully manage symptoms of your insomnia or other sleep disorders.
