Some studies have also stated that the use of alcohol before sleeping can initially be helpful in getting to sleep, but in the long run it can destroy your sleep totally. It creates adrenaline in the body and can also cause dehydration. If some medication against insomnia is being taken along with alcohol, then it creates other issues too. It gives wakefulness because it gets converted into glucose almost in the middle of the night. Since red wine also contains a considerable amount of alcohol, it can badly affect your sleeping patterns and can create sleep disorders.

Stimulant Effects Add up with Red Wine or Alcohol

People often take a lot of tea, coffee or soda throughout the day to keep them working. All these stimulants make it difficult to sleep at night and cause insomnia. Here if you take red wine, then it is just going to add up with other stimulants and make it more difficult for you to sleep.

Red Wine & Alcohol Effect on the Brain & Body

There are certain chemical reactions which take place in our brain every moment. These reactions can be disrupted with effect of red wine or other alcoholic drinks. The consumption of red wine gives the intoxication effect and the body starts to detoxify. The alcohol then converts to acetaldehyde which starts to mess with body system by creating a barrier between red blood cells and the brain and hitching them all itself. This in return reduces the oxygen level in certain parts of the body, especially the brain.

Acetaldehyde can cause certain deficiencies as well (like B1, B3, B5 and P5P)  among which B3 is responsible for causing insomnia along with depression, headaches and many other ailments.
