The Provent Therapy System

A CPAP Alternative | Provent Therapy for Sleep Apnea

Posted on December 31, 2011

I will be giving information on the Provent Therapy system which is an alternative for CPAP therapy. If you suffered from sleep apnea, in most cases your doctor would have asked you to undergo CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy. This therapy involved the use of pressurized air in order to keep your airways open and allow you to breathe freely and continuously. While CPAP therapy is the best current available treatment which has been proven to work for everyone if used regularly according to instructions, many people do not use it regularly due to lack of comfort with the treatment and many other problems associated with the CPAP device.

Disadvantages of CPAP Therapy

CPAP while effective has a few disadvantages because of which many people who should be using their machines regularly fail to do so. Some of the major disadvantages are:

  • Claustrophobic feeling while using the CPAP mask
  • Getting used to breathing pressurized air takes time
  • Sound produced by the CPAP machine is irritating
  • Sores and skin irritation due to pressurized air

But now another treatment is available for sleep apnea which removes all of the above problems while allowing you to breathe regularly and smoothly while sleeping.

What is Provent Therapy?

The Provent Therapy System
The Provent Therapy System

The Provent therapy has been created for people who are not comfortable with using a CPAP machine. This therapy system provides the following advantages over traditional CPAP therapy:

  • Lowers or stops apneas
  • Non Invasive
  • Reduces snoring caused due to sleep apnea
  • Requires no mask, tubing or CPAP machine
  • Is very small and does not cause much inconvenience when being used
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Requires no power or electricity to use
  • Can be used anywhere at any time

How does the Provent Therapy Work?

This therapy system uses two small devices which when attached to the nostrils will cover it completely by use of the adhesive material attached. The inbuilt micro valves present in the device will create pressure as you breathe out air, thus pressurized air will be directly delivered without the use of a large noisy CPAP machine, CPAP mask and tubing. The micro valves function in this way, when you inhale the air will be allowed to pass normally, but when you exhale the valves will close thereby causing an increase in pressure in your air tract which will prevent it from closing thereby treating sleep apnea. This will allow both you and your partner to sleep peacefully at night with the least amount of inconvenience.

The Efficacy of the Provent Therapy System

The provent Therapy system has been approved by the FDA to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is small and disposable and can be easily carried with you. Thanks to the micro valves there is no need for a large CPAP machine or mask or tubing. The device attaches to your nostril by the use of hypoallergenic adhesives, thus you can use it comfortable. Lastly the device can easily be disposed off. A number of studies by the scientific community have proven that this device has a high amount of efficacy in treating Obstructive sleep apnea.

If you suffer from Sleep apnea then first try CPAP, while it does have a few disadvantages it is very effective in keeping your apneas away. But after usage if you are not comfortable with CPAP therapy, then switch to the Provent Therapy System, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain. This produce is available only through a prescription so ask your doctor for one if you wish to try it.
