Bedwetting or nocturnal enuresis is not just a problem by young children or seniors who can’t control their urge to urinate during their sleep, but bedwetting can also affect teenagers. Teenagers who are actually suffering from bedwetting will most likely be embarrassed and afraid of other people to know their bedwetting problems. Teenagers who suffer from bedwetting are usually the ones who were not able to outgrow common bedwetting problems during childhood. Most of the time, children who usually wet their beds during their sleep can outgrow that problem as they grow older.

Bedwetting in teens can be treated and managed in numerous different ways. There are bedwetting natural remedies, medications for nocturnal enuresis, surgical procedures for nocturnal enuresis, and other nocturnal enuresis managements. Here are some commonly done or used nocturnal enuresis remedies that can also be helpful in bedwetting problems in teenagers.

  • Emptying the bladder before going to bed. Just before you go to sleep, it will be helpful if you go to the comfort room and urinate. If you want to make sure that your bladder is empty when you go to sleep, why not try going to the comfort room to urinate at least 2 times to 3 times at night until you go to sleep.
  • Decrease Fluid Intake during night time. It does not mean that you will need to decrease your overall fluid intake all throughout the day just to prevent you from urinating during sleep. All you have to do is instead of drinking 2 glasses of water at night, why not drink it during the afternoon? Remember that it is very important for a person to consume at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every single day, if not, there will be a very high risk for dehydration.
  • Try to use sleep alarms. There are special kinds of sleep alarms that will just turn on if it can detect wetness. The person who uses a sleep alarm will be made aware that he or she is already wetting during his or her sleep. There are several different types of sleep alarms and to make sure that you have the right one, try to ask and talk to your doctor about sleep alarms.
  • Set an alarm during the middle of the night for you to get up and urinate. This will help you urinate properly in the comfort room during the middle of the night before you can urinate in your bed.
