Chamomile Essential Oil for Insomnia

Insomnia is one of the most common sleep disorders that can affect anyone and at anytime. There are a lot of possible causative factors that can cause insomnia, it may be external, and where the environment (weather, temperature, noise, etc) or it may be internal, such as a disturbance in the internal body clock or circardian rhythm of the person. However, chamomile has been very famous for improving symptoms of sleep disorders, specifically insomnia. Chamomile is known to have calming and relaxing effects that can help in inducing sleepiness, which people with insomnia find it beneficial with their present condition. Chamomile can be used in different ways in treating sleep disorders, it may be in a tea form, tincture, or essential oil.

How to Use Chamomile Essential Oil for the Skin:

Chamomile essential oil must be diluted with vegetable carrier oil (olive oil, sunflower oil, etc) first before applying it directly to the skin. Dilute 7 to 10 drops of chamomile essential oil to 25 mL of the vegetable carrier oil.

How to Use Chamomile Essential Oil during Bath:

Adding 5 to 10 drops of chamomile essential oil into a bathtub full of warm water is done to obtain desired relaxation effects.

Chamomile Aromatherapy for Sleep Disorders:

Place a few drops of Chamomile Essential Oil into an oil warmer (the one with a tea light candle underneath) and light a candle. In no time, you can smell the scent of chamomile, which can induce relaxation and sleep.

In aromatherapy, you can use several different essential oils at once. You can add Lavender essential oil, Rose essential oil,  and Eucalyptus essential oil to Chamomile essential oil for better relaxation effects to treat sleep disorders.
