Sleep Disorders Lead To Behavioral Sleep Problems In Children

If you witness any sign of sleep disorders in your children, then immediately try to get it cured because it may impact different domains in children by which their development can get affected. To treat sleep problems in children, parents should consult psychologists or a specialist only because it is not a common problem but it will surely affect the overall growth of your child. From recent studies, it has come up that these problems have relation with co-morbid development conditions. Such development completely affects one’s behavioral approaches. So, it is such a critical disorder for modern children indeed.

Sleep Disruption Usually Cause Unexpected Behavioral Changes

Usually a bad sleep at night subject children to several unexpected behavioral changes and their functioning of daily life also get affected. Children are highly sensitive and their body needs are different from adults. An inadequate sleep causes paradoxical response in children. It makes them hyperactive. Such condition can manifest in form of hyperactivity or attention deficit. Except it, sleep disruption also creates several emotional issues like crying, aggression and inadequate behaviors. However, it is not found that what causes sleep problems in children; yet behavioral changes are certain.

To keep a child away from common sleep problems in children, parents should encourage healthy sleeping habits in children. For such healthy sleeping habits, the accurate sleeping amount for children is given below. Check out sleeping hours for children of different ages.

  • 0-3 months age children should sleep for 10 – 18 hours a day.
  • 3 months – 1 Year age children need 14 – 15 hours sleep in a day.
  • 1 – 3 years age children require sleep for 12 – 14 hours a day
  • 3 – 5 years age children need 11 – 12 hours sleep a day
  • 6 – 12  years age children should sleep for 10 – 11 hours everyday
  • 13 – 19 years children should sleep 9.5 hours a day, but very few children get this sleep.

Sleep Development Effects For Children

Sleep puts a great impact on the development of children. In a child’s life, there are several development stages and to perform in all stages, they should get adequate sleep. By taking required sleep at night can improve learning, remembering and processing habits in children. A poor sleep prevents children to pay proper attention to their school and thus, their academic grades get decreased. They do not find interest in anything and their behavior becomes aggressive and they start being isolated most of the time.

Sleeping Releases Growth Hormones

 When a child sleeps, his or her body releases growth hormones. These hormones are very important as it plays a crucial role in child’s development. When a child does not sleep enough, he does not required growth hormones. The impact of these hormones affect not only internally, but also externally. Moreover, the immune system of a child’s body also get weaken with lack of sleep. Thus, his body cannot fight with several diseases. Therefore, sleep disorders are very dangerous for a child’s entire life.
