CPAP also known as Continuous Positive Airway Pressure is a machine which will use air pressure to keep the air passageway open. This machine is the best non surgical treatment available in the market for sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a sleeping problem which is characterized by abnormally low breathing caused due to an obstruction in the air passageway. Let us take a look at the risks of using this machine.
Risks of using CPAP:
When you use the CPAP machine, you may face any of the following risks:
- Excessive dreaming while sleeping.
- At times Nightmares may be present.
- Congestion of the nose with sneezing.
- Dry nose along with a sore throat.
- Irritation on the skin on the face.
- In rare cases, nose bleeds may be present.
You will experience a certain amount of discomfort when you newly start to use the CPAP machine.
Relieving the Different Side Effects:
Based on the side effects that you face, your doctor may do the following:
- The doctor may adjust the settings of the CPAP machine.
- He or she may suggest a different mask which will fit you better and prevent air leakage.
- The doctor may suggest a CPAP with a humidifier to lower the irritation.
- You can also use a corticosteroid nasal spray to reduce nasal irritation.
- Decongestants may also be prescribed if you have a runny or congested nose.

I don’t know, I don’t have any of these issues with my CPAP
for me i had irritation of the skin after using CPAP, I am not entirely cured of this so this was for me the worst consequence
