Unconventional Causes Of Fibromyalgia

Posted on June 15, 2014

What causes fibromyalgia that has impaired your sleep? Fibromyalgia has affected nearly 10 million people alone in the United States. Typically, it is characterized by fatigue, sleep disturbances, chronic pain, specifically muscle pain, depression, brain fog and painful tender joints throughout the body. Medical science has yet to find out the underlying causes of fibromyalgia and only suggest management of symptoms with antidepressants and medications. On the other hand, functional medicine physicians are working hard to get to  the root causes behind fibromyalgia. Below are the clippings of some of their findings.

Root Causes of Fibromyalgia

What causes Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia

Gluten intolerance

You might not believe but Gluten has been linked to more than 50 chronic diseases and is often names as “big masquerader”. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, ray and other grains. It’s a protein part of these grains. People with Gluten intolerance are not able to tolerate gluten when the protein comes in contact with their small intestine.

Candida overproduction

Candida is a yeast or fungus, and in a very tiny amount it is found in our intestines. It is produced by the body itself but when the production overgrows, Candida breaks down the intestines wall and break in the bloodstream, releasing toxic byproducts that result in unpleasant symptoms such as fatigue, digestive issues, brain fog and pain. Candida overgrowth is a common symptom found in every patient with fibromyalgia.

Thyroid

It’s vital for your doctor to check all six blood markers to exactly measure the proper functioning of your thyroid gland. It is also significant that your doctor focus on optimal levels in place of standard reference range when diagnosing and assessing thyroid disorders. When a patient suffering from fibromyalgia is checked for thyroid level for optimal range, symptoms such as sleep disturbances, fatigue and depression come obvious.

Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth

SIBO is a condition in which bacteria similar to the bacteria found in colon proliferate in excessively large numbers in the small intestine. With use of sugar-rich-diet when these bacteria get out of control a person loses his/her ability to digest and absorb important nutrients, specifically B12. to manage fibromyalgia you first need to fix the leaky gut and SIBO.

MTHFR mutations

MTHFR is a genetic test to check the mutation level. The more mutation your body has for MTHFR gene the less able a body becomes to methylate and detoxify toxins, such as mercury and lead. With higher mutations a body has for this gene, requirement for folic acid, methyl-B6, and methyl-B12 in order to maintain the detoxification pathway clear for your body.

Glutathione deficiency

Glutathione gets recycled in our body. While high Glutathione levels are signs of longevity and good health, low Glutathione levels are associated with health problems and diseases such as Fibromyalgia, MS, Cancer, Alzheimer’s Atherosclerosis, Parkinson’s, Pregnancy Complications, Asthma, Cateracts, Autis, Bronchitis, Migraines, Insomnia, Pain, Osteoporosis, Poor Vision, PMS, Psoriasis, Low Sex Drive, Wrinkles, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, etc.
